lodeStar™ Free Trial for Mac

The current version of LodeStar, an eLearning authoring tool, produces Star Interaction® activities that can be imported* into the following learning management systems: Microsoft Sharepoint Learning Kit, Microsoft Class Server™ , Desire2Learn, WebCT, Moodle, Blackboard™ and other SCORM conformant systems.

*Import is supported through the IMS content packaging standard.

To evaluate lodeStar , follow these steps:

  • Install lodeStar
  • Launch lodeStar and follow the directions for obtaining a trial license.
  • Evaluate lodeStar for 30 days.
  • Submit a purchase order for a full license or buy online

LodeStar was produced to help instructors and trainers configure sophisticated interaction objects for Desire2Learn, Moodle, Blackboard and other IMS compliant systems.

Read Carefully: LodeStar (MAC Version) requires MAC OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and above and Java for MAC OS X 10.6 Update 3 or later

To check or update your software, please select the Apple menu at the upper-left corner of your screen. Select System Preferences. Select Software Update. Select the "Installed Software" tab. Look for information related to Java for Mac OS X. If your system does not have the minimum version of Java that is required, run the software update and re-check.

Recommended Steps to Previewing LodeStar (Requires MAC OS 10.6 or above):

Step One:

After downloading the zip file, do the following:

  • Double-click the .DMG file to open it up. An icon will appear on your desktop in a Finder window.
  • If a new Finder window doesn't automatically appear, double click on the new icon that has appeared on your desktop. A Finder window will appear.
  • Locate the LodeStar icon within this new Finder window. Drag and drop it into your “Applications” directory.
  • The last step was critical. You must drag and drop the LodeStar icon into the Applications folder before launching the app and installing the license!
